We never receive your plan. It lives in your browser and in the link you save. There is no login and no bank link, and there never will be.
What we never get
Your pay, your bills, their names and amounts, your debt, any balance, and your plan link.
Where your plan lives
- In your link. Your whole plan is packed into the part of the link after the
#. Browsers don't send that part to any website, ours included. - In this browser. ThisCheck keeps a copy in your browser's storage so the plan is there next time. To remove it, open the plan, then Settings & help, then "Delete everything on this device".
- Anyone you send the link to can see your plan, and your browser may keep it in your history.
The plan page runs only our code
The page that shows your plan loads no one else's code: no analytics, no ads, no email widget. Code from another company could read the link in the address bar, so we keep it off that page.
What we count
The plan page sends anonymous counts to our own server, so we can tell whether ThisCheck helps and whether to keep building it. These counts are always on. Each one says which step happened: the page was opened, a plan was made, the "Even out your checks" suggestion was shown or tried, the "Do these once" checklist came into view, or the plan was saved (print, link or backup). Each count also carries:
- a random 8-character id that is stored inside your plan (it has no personal information in it; a link you share with someone counts as the same plan);
- the day, by your device's calendar;
- whether the plan was opened from a link or from this browser's copy;
- how often you're paid: every week, every other week, twice a month or once a month.
Never amounts, bill names, balances, your email or your link. The counts are stored in a Cloudflare database.
The home page
The home page (not the plan page) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits and which link brought people there without cookies. If you arrived from a link like one in a video description, the home page remembers that tag (for example "ub10") in your browser so a Money Check signup can say where it came from.
If you sign up for the 15-Minute Money Check, Kit, our email service, stores your email address and a tag saying you signed up from ThisCheck (and from which video's link, if any). It is used for the Money Check and Unnoticed Broke emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link. The form sends your email address, never your plan.
Hosting
Cloudflare serves this site. Like any web host, it handles your IP address to deliver the pages. We don't use it to identify you.
Age
ThisCheck is for adults 18 and over in the United States.
